What is UGC?

·         Source of content and media created by a consumer e.g. Social media follower or influencer or a fan

·         Blog, social media post, Wiki, podcasts, video or social image- something that’s not created by the business

·         Business then use this content on their site or social media networks to promote their brand. Typically this type of content comes at little to no cost, which acts like a free source of advertising.
     
Why does UGC work?

·         According to Mary Meeker’s 2015 internet trend report, UGC is exploding across all media plat platforms.  Facebook users watch more than four billon videos a day, up by 33% from last year

·         70% of consumers place peer recommendations and reviews above professionally written content

·         Businesses need to find ways to humanize their brand and build trust with their customers.
